A nice old car got destroyed last night in an MVA here in Everett. May the instigating driver be cursed with misfortune for ten years.

A f**king drunk destroyed my old Golf as it was parked on the street one night. I really miss that car.

A pox? A little light. More like incurable plague please .

There is a little shrine near me to a driver who died while driving drunk, at speed, with no seat belt and I desperately just want to take it down.

Fuck that guy and every other dui driver.

63-64, I am leaning towards 63 but they are almost identical.

Hopefully the people in that Caddy were ok. Old cars don’t do shit to protect passengers in a crash.

And f*ck the drunk driver.

I think you’d need a better look at the smashed grille to know which year.

Ouch. Looks like the Saab convertible (I think that’s what it was anyway) got by far the worst of it:

Troublingly it looks like the windshield is smashed all the way down into the driver’s space, and there’s blood on the passenger door.

My thoughts exactly.

Well, it doesnt look like there was any intrusion into the passenger compartment, and nobody hit the windshield hard enough to crack it, so it would all come down to how hard they hit the steering wheel and dash, and whether they had seat belts.

I think you’re probably right - hopefully you are.

Pre-1965 cars are a crapshoot on having seat belts.  More people have added them over the years, but they were optional on most cars and most didn’t get them from the factory.   My 64 Olds didn’t have them.

The Caddy can be fixed and made better than before. A protouring early 60s Caddy ragtop with a 500 ci efi Caddy engine would be amazing!

It would have been an option, unless retrofitted later. Single best upgrade you can do to an old car.

Oh by far!  A necessity these days, but as a dumb kid I owned 2 cars that didn’t have them.  Wrecked one of them too, but walked away.  Lucky, not good.

Here, if you are found to have a 0.05% blood alcohol level or above (which you can get from 3 to 4 standard drinks within a one hour period... therefore barely noticeable to most people )....instant lic ence suspension for 2 months and a hefty fine .

Something like this would see you without a licence for a couple of years, jail for six months (suspended sentence if first offence) and a not insubstantial fine

remove the drunk from the gene pool, it’s the only way to cure the problem
